    Lt1 fuel rail

We have discovered a difference in fuel rails from Jim Simpson.

    Jim furnished the following:

I will follow up on this with some photos provided by Jim.

I am attaching photos of my fuel rails off my 1995. The Judging Manual has a typo in relation to the correct number. .

Pat, here are pics of the fuel rails on my late 1996 LT1. I believe the rails and the intake plenum are original, but are not in agreement with the current judging manual.

Thanks for setting this up as its own thread.

        Re: Lt1 fuel rail

Gentlemen, forgetting the misprint/typo with the part number for the fuel rail shown in the Judging Manual (170955191 should be 17095191), we now have three different additional identifiers for the K series numbers. Pat you have KNN 2, Jim you have KNM 2 and I have KNP 1.

The Judging Manual calls for KNP 2.

I know early on in the judging of the 94-96 models, a deduct was being given on this item if it did not agree with the Judging Manual. I furnished that information to Tom Barr that my original fuel rail had KNP 1. When my Corvette was judged the Master Judge took the position that the difference in the number on my Corvette 1 vs 2 probably was an indicator of a shift and no deduct was given to me

. Now it looks like there are additional differences in this number.

I will submit to Tom this additional information and the number on Jim fuel rail. Perhaps since it was such a late unit in the final year of the C4, anything available was put on these Corvettes.

        Thanks for the information.

Keep the cards and letters coming.

          Re: Lt1 fuel rail

Charlie, in addition to the differing KN numbers, my photo shows my rail part number differs from the manual more significantly than a simple typo, in that mine reads 17095152, when the manual says it should be 170955191. I also just realized that the sticker number on the opposite rail matches the last four digits of the rail numbers. Yours and Jim's match, and even though I don't have a pic of mine, I distinctly remember it reads 5152.

Pat and Pat, I have a chance to check out an original owner, low mileage, 1995 LT1 and will do so on Monday (16th). I'll provide numbers and pictures of everything he documents as original on his car. If you have any suggestions send a PM and I'll see that I cover it.

Jim, thanks for the help. You know we need it. We accept information from anyone taking the time to help. It all is appreciated.

Your pretty much know what we want:

The Surge Tank and Hose Issue. Color of hoses, date codes and the markings on the surge tank.
              The Intake information
              Now the Fuel Rail.
              Need build date also.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I have requested addition information from three individuals concerning the fuel rail.

Jim, do any of these numbers look familiar?

A friend of mine just sent them to me. He has a 1996 LT1. It is a twin to my 95 in color and interior.

He bought it a couple of years ago with 4,500 miles on the odometer.

Bingo! That's my car - actually not, mine is white, but those numbers match. What is build date and VIN (forget last two)

It has a January 1996 Build Date and the VIN is 95XX.

Keep me updated with the review you do next week.

                        Re: Lt1 fuel rail

                        Examined a 1996 LT1, build date 8/95 today.

                        Surge Tank had a 95 with 7 Dots and a Julian Date of 2065-July 25th 1995.

                        Yellow Hoses.

It had the fuel rails that are common to the other 96 LT1's that we have previously discussed. What is interesting is that this Corvette is a real early build date and we have a real late LT1 96 build date with the same fuel rail number. This should show that the 96 LT1's had same number of 17096114. Same decal of 6114.

It also had the similar marking of KNM 2.

                            Jim, replacement alternator.

Intake area was so greasy and dirty that I will have to go back with cleaning stuff.

                            Really bad.

I took a look (and a lot of pics) today of a 39k mile, one owner, 1995 convertible. Owner says none of the following have been replaced:

                              VIN 1165xx build date 05/95
Alternator - 10480202 with date code 51151 (May 11, 95 1st shift) - Manual says this is correct for '96 but not '95
                              Intake plenum - 10108630
Fuel rails - 170951191 with date code of 1245 KNP 1 and right side sticker of 1191
Surge tank - 10157994 with date code of 1235 and 95 in the circle with 5 dots
Radiator hoses - numbers only partly visible, but codes of "MUS" and "MVZ"
Headlight bezels attached with hex head screws
Sorry, I missed the casting date on the waterpump.

I'll send pics to Pat (Charlie) when I get his email address.
