    transmission paint

I would like to be able to touch up my transmission paint . Would their be a particular gray that was used ? My car is a driver so a close match would be good. Maybe a brush epoxy application ? Thanks

Hi Wayne, probably the best paint is Krylon Dull Aluminum or whatever the vendors carry now in that type paint. (although not painted originally).

      Wayne,
The tranny in not supposed to be painted. Tranny s/b bare aluminum casting. I would suggest to use a water base stripper and remove paint that was applied.

I'm with Gene, I've done dozens (hundreds) of transmissions over the last 40 years and none of the aluminum case versions were painted from the factory. The tailhousings were generally a different shade due to being die-cast rather than sand-cast, but neither was painted. I'd suggest a good aluminum cleaner.

Wayne, I agree with others. You should get that grey paint off and see what you've got. If it won't clean up enough to suit you then hit it with Krylon Dull Aluminum.

Scrape.....scrape. It'll go quicker than you think. Purchase a good quality stripper.
