Re: C-1 Generator heat shield
Lot's of good discussion below in 'similar threads'. Pretty much agree that 57 and early 58 only had shields.1964 Red FI Coupe, DUNTOV '09

Re: C-1 Generator heat shield
This heat shield was for protecting the tach drive unit on the rear of the generator and I believe it was only on 56-57 cars. BUT, my question is, did the 57 Airbox cars with a 1102059 gnerator, which DID NOT have a tach drive, have the heat shield?- Top

Re: C-1 Generator heat shield
Hi Steve,
Supposed to get close to 60 today. We have had our Jan thaw this week.
As for the heat shield part number this is all I could find from my April 1960 parts book group 2.277 generator bracket and mounting parts. Nothing listed in the exhaust manifold section. I think this is it.
Shield, bracket bushing heat, use w/rams horn type exh. manifold
56-57 Corvette
57-59 Pass. w/ P/S (8 cyl) (exc. 348, 40 amp.)
Ser. 3-4 w/P/S(8cyl.)
It doesn't list the shield for any Corvette newer than 57. This makes me wonder if the P/S pump on the passenger car and medium truck was mounted on the exh manifold and needed a little heat protection.
