it is 100# lighter than the C-6 base car by using the ZO-6 aluminum frame under under the base car

I bought a DiabloSport Tuner just to disable AFM on my 12 2SS/RS
They call it DOD in the Tuner.
when that AFM kicks in it makes your Exhaust Drone like Crazy.
Disabling with the Tuner fixes that and only cost 0.3 MPG!!

That may be, but this is what LeftLaneNews has to say about the weight of the C7 overall:

A styling disappointment. Too much electronics...5 driving modes with the Econo mode shutting 4 cylinders off, electronic differential with the Z51 package.

I like the Duntov quote at the end of the article.

Agree on both counts. Looks like it's trying to be too many things. And black wheels look too "aftermarket" to me. JMHO

The general tone on the '14 model sounds negative. And I agree with that tone. But I'll assure you GM will sell a ton of them. Performance, not looks is what impress the new age Corvette buyer. The age of smooth curvers and chrome are long gone.

+1, the tone is very negative among us vintage owners for sure, but my 20 something kids are agog about it, compare it to a Ferrari at 1/6th the price, they can't afford it just yet, but the curve of approval starts among the teens and is very high until you get to the 50s+, like all of us. And black wheels are also very in among the young set, and some have said that even if the C7 is about the same weight as the C6, the typical drivers will be 100 lbs. lighter.....

Also hearing (Auto News) that the C7 will only be offered to the biggest of Chevrolet Dealers. This will just kill
interest in a lot of area's. There is lot of Corvette buyers in areas in which their Chevy dealer will not be able to
sell them due to not "making the quota" of sales. Anyway that's their (GM) business model which I predict will not
be around for too much longer anyway. Larry

It's way too much car for me. I'm still trying to figure out the radio on my 2000 Impala! My son had a 96 GS and I thought that was wild. It is a car for the younger set and, from what I've been told, that was the target - not us old farts.

I'm now wondering if they will do the sales by dealers like they do the ZR1 now, only the biggest and ones that have the qualified mechanics to even change the oil, which my local Chevy dealer can't do, I have to drive 60 miles to get that done. These new C7s will be electronic monstrosities, with so much complexity and training required, you better only take them to the biggest dealers.

You guys must be old. I love the new C7. Its about time they put some excitment back into the styling. From the c4 to th c6, the styling has been boring. And the interior hasent been that nice for a long time.

Did GM steal the radiator cooling air flow over the hood configuration from the Ford GT-40?
