Let me back up a bit…approximately 2 years ago I was approached by the person responsible for updating the manual (no name here, but is personal friend) regarding some unknown information that needed clarification for potential use in the new Manual. I obliged the best I could, and with additional inquiries, was unsure about my answer, or I just did not know, but agreed to find out. Enter the formation of the Unofficial Revision Team – I say “unofficial” because I was told NOT to use that term…we were NOT the OFFICIAL Revision Team; OK, in the name of friendship, I agreed to this. We now became “My Group of Experts” or something of that sort.

Lets get down to the brass tacks…my TEAM consisted of Andy Cannizzo, Jimmy Gregg, Michael Hanson, John Hinkley, Bob Jorjorian, and Ken Schurr. Most of you will recognize these NCRS Members and I consider ALL of them to be EXPERTS in their knowledge of 1963-4 Corvettes. Our process included item-by-item checking of the existing Manual, and highlighting the errors, or places where additional information could be added for clarification. Literally hundreds of photos were submitted by our team (mostly by Andy Cannizzo and Michael Hanson) and it was noted at the top of each Judging Section Revision Sheet that the information submitted below could be verified with a photo of an original car, factory picture, or factory documentation….we did not accept here-say.

I wish to personally thank them for their time and patience (with me – I hounded them for information, pictures, documents etc.) and hope that the readers of this post, especially the 1963-4 guys that benefitted from their knowledge, will personally recognize them to show their gratitude and thanks. Countless hundreds of hours were devoted to the critiquing the ENTIRE Manual – we produced what I recall was 26 or more typed, ready-to-go sheets of corrections and additions for the New Manual. Guys……I cannot thank you enough, and am very sorry that only my name was posted (for the record, all I did was organize your great contributions!!!!!). I am checking in to this and thus far have not been able to find out why all of you were excluded…I have a hunch, but that is another story.

I have not seen the new Manual, and hope that it meets the expectations of those who have been anxiously awaiting it’s publication – get it NOW - I understand that it was available at the Kissimmee Meet and now available through our NCRS store.

Andy, Jimmy, Michael, John, Bob and Ken…..hope this helps to let folks know who ALSO made the contributions to our GREAT JG!

    Thanks, Bob
It was a great group and we enjoyed working with you.
If all the past mistakes re-appear it maybe a blessing our names are not associated with it.

Bob; Thank you for your kind words and support. Why our names were left out of the new manual is beyond me when those involved with the manual knew who we were! All we did was to try to make the manual better for both the restorers and judges. Those on top should have thanked us and asked for more info while we are still alive.....Once us old timers and lovers of 63's and 64's are gone, so will much of the info be gone.....Thanks again for your leadership and support....Andy

There was a long list of contributors in the Driveline article about the revised JG.

Joe, In the current Driveline I see a list of contributors for the 68-69 manual but not the 63-64 manual. Where did you find the info at. Thanks, John

To every single NCRS member who has ever given their time to making a manual a reality...thank you. It's fun but it's a whole lot like work, too.

Thanks to all helping these manuals better and better. I think they are world class, and incomparable to anything I've seen from any other car club (in the positive sense)! So thanks to all mentioned and unmentioned contributors and the time you have invested to make these manuals into what they are today and will be tomorrow!!!

Thanks to everyone that contributed to this new judging manual!

I'd like to purchase one, but when I try and do this through the NCRS store, it seems as if they are out of stock (or more than likely showing not available). Has anyone else been successful ordering one online? Thanks for your help.

Phil....NOT a chance here for proof-reading - for some unknown reason, all was "super secret"; I do not think that was typical for "other year" Manual revisions. Twenty-some pages is a LOT of new information, would certainly have been welcomed elsewhere. Just my thoughts, based on events. Bob #3342

Bob, I have been coordinator on three revisons and have never seen a draft to proof before publication. That is the reason many pictures are out of place in the latest 1968-69 one.
