Claus -- here's another example, on my early '65; not sure if '64 air cars are same. Original holes in fender and rad support, including the 3 holes w/o screws for the T.I. amp (below horn relay, not installed).

Re: AC blower motor and fan C2

The diagram from the assembly manual shows the voltage regulator are placed on the left inner fender but every picture i have seen of 1964 factory AC cars have the voltage regulator
and horn relay on the radiator support
I will check if i have the 3 holes on the left inner fender on my car

On the picture to the left is another 1964 factory AC with the voltage regulator and horn relay on the radiator support
So far all of the 1964 AC cars i have seen pictures of have the voltage regulator and horn relay on the radiator support and 1965 and newer have the voltage regulator on the inner fender

Re: AC blower motor and fan C2

I hope the insulation inside the outer AC box will not come loose since i have glued on the insulation proper and have used a lot of sealant where the sheets of insulation meets
The new AC relays that are being sold all have metal plate finnish like the one i have(see the attached picture)
I am not sure if the AC relay is supposed to be metal plated or painted semi flat black?
        Any here that knows?

Thanks Harry I had a feeling it is supposed to be black

Re: AC blower motor and fan C2

Any here that have any suggestion for what kind of clips i can use to attach the fan housing to the outer AC box?
The clips and screws i bought are to long(big)to use. See the 2 pictures to the right

This work is just nice and pleasant to do

You can see the original clips i need on the 2 pictures to the left.
The 2 pictures to the to the left is of the original clips that nobody is selling
The clips are for threaded screws.

Re: AC blower motor and fan C2

I thougt i was supposed to use the 2 rubber seals that came with the insulation kit as a seal between the fan housing and AC box, also between the blower motor and fan housing
I found a picture showing the putty that is used to get a good seal between the fan housing and AC box. The same goes for the blower motor to the fan housing
About the clips for attaching the fan housing to the AC box i suppose i will try to bend the clips so they are not that long so perhaps i can use them? See the picture to the right
Is there supposed to be any grounding on the AC box? Except for the ground on the blower motor?

Strange that nobody make the outer AC box for the 1963-67 Corvettes but i suppose that there is so few factory AC cars that it will not pay off to make the AC box?

Re: AC blower motor and fan C2

It took me quite sometime to get all of the outer parts for the AC assembly since some owners before me cut the outer AC box in half and threw away everything except for the fan housing and the part of the outer AC box which the fan housing is bolted on to
I wonder if the coils i have made on the copper lines from the expansion valve will be in conflict with the heather hoses or anything else?
Also if if this looks like how it was done on the factory? Do i have to change the lines from the expansion valve to get the factory look?
Any here that can post a picture of how it looks in the engine bay close to this lines?

Re: AC blower motor and fan C2

Looking at where the copper line from the expansion valve attach on my STV valve is located lower on my STV valve than others i have seen picture of.

Do any here know if if i need to use the same place to connect the expansion copper line on the STV valve as on the the STV valve to the right on the picture?
My STV valve on the left picture and the STV valve to the right is where most have the line from the expansion valve
You can see that the copper line from the expansion valve sits in different locations
The location for the copper line on the STV valve is close together so i do not know if it matters?
I am grateful if anybody here can help me. It is best to put the line from the expansion valve in the correct place now than while have it in parts than after the outer AC assembly is back on the car

Claus -- I vote that the picture on the right (with the [external equalizer] line from the back side of the head on the expansion valve, and which expands in diameter just before attaching to the STV) is the factory position.

I attach 2 pics of my early '65 C60 car. Very difficult to get a camera in there for detail photos.

Thanks Wayne. I will change the location on my STV valve
Perhaps i will need to remove the coils on the copper lines from the expansion valve as well?
The only thing is that i do not want to have a lot of lines from the expansion valve sticking up around the outer AC assembly

It is time for me to restore the STV valve so i wonder if some here knows what kind of solvent i should i use to clean the STV valve?

It says in the GM instructions to use Molykote Type Z. I do not know what Molykote Type Z is?
It looks like it is supposed to be used on the depressed section of the diaphragm where the spring retainer cup will fit into it so i suppose that i can use
the graphite lubricant that came with the kit for that?

What type of oil is 525 viscosity oil?
The oil is used on the wall of the piston and the body of the valve.
Can i use like gun oil for that?

I have a seal kit for restoring the STV valve but it looks like the seal for the absolute vacum regulator to body seal is not included.
Is there any here that have restored a STV valve and knows where i can get that seal?

Why don't you start a new thread on how to rebuild this? It would be at the top and have its own title.
