Until someone shows me some examples of original '66s with the self-locking nut, I'm going to assume that the use of the hi-nut and lock washer continued thru the end of the '66 model year. Given the July 20 build date of my '66, it seems like the combination of the nut and lock washer was used at least up until the last week or two of '66 production.

There was a discussion about this here a year or two ago and if I remember correctly, a few original examples showed up with the self locking nuts. Maybe search using the part numbers for the unique bolts and self locking nuts?

I know the part number in the AIM for the studs was different for 63-65 and changed for 66. It may have changed again for 67 because the thread count changed???

If there are examples of '66s late in the model year with the self-locking nuts, then I suspect there is overlap in their use and the continued use of the hi-nut and lock washer.

That's very possible. I suppose.

I know I've seen several 66 cars over the years that had the self locking nuts.

My Nov 65 built 66 has the hi-nuts with L/washers, just like 63-65.
