I'm a bit late to the party. I saw this thread, but am not fond of typing more than a very brief reply on my phone. Anyhow, I guess I am wondering what you consider big $$ to be. I sold a GM service replacement 67 big block hood on ebay a while ago for about $900.00 if I remember correctly. The service replacements are a little different than the factory installed pieces. I've never been to it, but I hear the winter Florida regional has a pretty good swap meet. If you can wait until August, Carlyle is probably your best bet for a GM stinger hood. I found one for my 66 there a few years ago. I guess I don't know what the reproduction hoods go for, but I would rather have a GM part. Your mileage may vary.
