Word to date is supercharged, 620 HP, 650 lb-ft. According to Jalopnik, Chevy built an empty placeholder website for the Z06 ahead of the reveal but kept some specifications in the page's metadata. The info is no longer accessible.

Interesting, so why only 620HP? They have the LS9 (638HP), like the one I built for my ZR1, sitting in the parts bin. Seems like they could punch that a bit and get 700HP easy.

The GM fellow up north I talked to would tell me nothing, and he is in a position of know. He said he liked working at GM and wanted to continue working there and I should tune in Monday. He also said there is more to a Z06 than the engine. Note pic of engine and rear brake scoop. It is going to be a long weekend.

More than an engine huh? Well, to me about 95% of a Corvette (and differences between the various models) is the engine, always was, always will be IMO. But, maybe they have some cool bells and whistles and suede leather, etc. That would be nice too. And maybe they could make a nav system that doesn't look like it came from 2001.

Larger Brembos and some new specs for shocks/springs, gearing are rumored. I "assume" wheels, too.

Surely they would use the ZR1 parts bin, like carbon ceramics, MRC, etc. But maybe they don't want it to cost that much.

They might hold off on those till 2017 or so. Then give us 800 HP or so in a C7 ZR1.

I'm planning to go downtown to the show next Thursday morning. If the new Z06 is on display, I'll take a few pics and post here ASAP (the LT1 was debuted there last year and I was able to snap and post some pics to this board then) unless someone else gets a chance first. If not, I'll be back there Friday night. It oughta be out for all of us in our monkey suits to see by then.

If I were a betting man, I would also be pretty confident that there will be one at Barrett Jackson next week and the first production serial # would be auctioned off and one of our members would probably be very heavy into the bidding. Just my opinion of course!

In dont think horsepower in as important as traction at this stage of the game. As great as the new Corvette is it will never be able to compete with Europes finest AWD cars in straight line performance. We are all sitting here watching new 0 to 100 miles per hour records set by Porsche and Nissan with there AWD Sports cars.

Calendar doesn't work out does it guys. I mean we just celebrated NY's Eve 2013 10-11 days ago. Now Next week a 2015 is coming out????
