    Re: Great Job Everyone...except

Rob it is a private auction so the bidders ids aren't shown and you can't contact the via eBay or by any other means. If we could we would have. GL

        Proven, Beyond A Reasonable Doubt.........

I now feel 100% confident that we have conclusive evidence of the fact that at least some of the items in the listing are false and fraudulent. The incorrect parts prices and part numbers listed on the warranty repair order absolutely prove that the original document could not have been written on the date that the seller claims and, in fact, had to have been written no earlier than 1974. Everything else up to this point was speculation and it was the sellers word against the rest of the world but the repair order ends the debate. Case closed as far as I'm concerned.

If this case ever wound up in court, that bit of information would be the key to proof, beyond a reasonable doubt.

Re: Proven, Beyond A Reasonable Doubt.........

Michael: Not just the repair order is false so is the buyers order and I can prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt. There are many factual errors in it, most of which I would rather hold back incase of legal wrangling with the seller. I assure you what I have for documentation and the false documents and the fact he answered only one question that was visible to all on ebay with false statements should lead to only one conclusion the car is a FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!! Or in other words if you were a potential buyer you could take the statements of the seller, the bogus documents, all the stuff written on this and other boards etc and discount them, spend big money for the car or take the statements from the seller, the bogus documents etc and save your self a bunch of $$$$$$$$ because you are smart enought not to spend your money on a FAKE L-88

            And Best Of All....

...is the fact that it's too late to change the listing and delete these documents. It's carved in stone now and the proof will live on forever.

                Micheal --
Those sound like parts for a standard duty tranny. Shouldn't a L-88 have a double-disc clutch and a rockcrusher. I remember that my 71 454/425 did.

                  Re: And......

                  Chas,

I looked up the part numbers yesterday and was a bit surprised to find that the parts are actually correct for an M-22. I thought for sure someone would have over looked that when fabricating the repair order but they did at least get that part correct, even if a few of the numbers that are shown were not at all available in June 1968, the date of the repair order.

Not sure exactly when the dual disc clutch came into production but I believe it was 1970 or 71? One of the C3 guys will have to answer that. All of the 67-69 L88 cars came with a 10.5 single disc HD clutch and the light weight 15# flywheel.

                  Good to hear from you.......

                    You Sherlocks are GOOD

I'd checked the eBay seller's parts list and the M22 gears seemed OK, so I left it at that.

From my 1968 [Oct '67] and July'69(Rev) P&A30's, here are a few (list, I believe) respective prices for the M22 trans components.

                    3905466 counter gear: $ 87.50 (Oct '67) / $ 97.35 (July '69)
                    3880845 3rd gear: $ 53.25 (same price both dates)
                    3925691 input (main) gear: $ 49.50 / $ 50.75
The above input gear underwent a few part # revisions. In Oct '67, it was known as #3880846, then #3915096, and parts history shows this replaced by 3925691 in 2-68.

Also confirm Larry's 3-4 synchro observation. It was still known as 3924113 in Jan 1970.

They should make a Peter Sellers movie out of this -- Michael would play "Clouseau".

Without my reference books available since I'm at work...

MA6 Dual disc cluth started in 1969.

I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will club me up the side of the head.

                        Yup!

All L88's used the 15# small diameter flywheel with the 403 bellhousing. The dual disc clutch came out in 1969 (mid year I think) and used the 621 bellhousing, and had coarse splines in the input shaft and clutch discs. The 1971 dual disc clutch for the LS6 had fine splines on the input shaft and discs.

Maybe I'll show up at the Florida meet with a mostache and one of those weird hats. Already have the magnifying glass.
