Re: notice anything unusual?
Bill...The passenger side mirror was also trasferred from the Sebring car along with the emblems and drivetrain. You don't see the drivers side mirror on the 54..because the drivers side door is off the car.

Meyer Speedway Special..Eb Rose
Mike
Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe someone like Clem..might take a stab at it!
George Moore did the transplant. I suspect it was also transferred from the 57. George also went on to wrench for Eb Rose who drove at Indy in 61/62 & 63

Re: Correct!!! Guy on the left...is Carrol Shelby
joe: was the picture you posted taken ata Cumberland national run-off and if so, what year? our NRA website with the cumberland historic photos is temporarily down so i can't look and see if its a cumberland shot. As far as the ballast resistors, bet the original (can't see the delco resistor in your picture well enough to tell if its a 57 resistor ) took a crap. the ballast resistor closest to the engine is a generic. i'd have by-passed the resistor and run a full 12 v to the points if i were running the setup back then and did't expect to have to run more than a hour or so on 12v. mike- Top

Mike..The Shelby Corvette Picture
Is at Cumberland '57..I would have to check my file for the date..but as I recall it was about June/July 57..the SCCA event. I have the results around somewhere..
Eb brought the Bill Mitchell SR2 and the 2 Black/Pink 57's. Carrol was there with team Maserati...but also drove for Eb in B bracket.
Regarding the resistor..would it have made a differance since ..George was installing a 12 volt engine into a 6 volt car?- Top

Re: dual resistors
If they are wired in parallel, the effective resistance is half, so the voltage to the distributor and coil would be higher than the standard configuration. (Hotter spark)Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: dual resistors
Mike
That is interesting..because I recall hearing about coil failures. Sebring cars had to get back to the pits on their own or pushed by the driver. Sounds like a good idea to have a spare coil set up in place of failure.- Top

Re: dual resistors
Joe--
I have a picture of Dick Thompson on his knees on the cowl, bent over fixing something underhood on my car back in 62--can't tell which track, but I knew that at Sebring they could repair it on the course (no crew could go out) or limp it back to the pits.- Top
