Re: Paying for the forum bites...

Very well said, I agree that this should be kept free, how many paying members or really on this board out of all the NCRS membership?

      Clem, just a thought...

      Clem,

FWIW, if you haven't joined the Corvette Forum yet, the CF forum would LOVE to have you share your knowledge over there.

My technical question is: Why is my C3 brake (manual brakes) pedal so hard to push, to the point where I can't lock them up if I tried? I've had better brake response on my old '38 Ford with juice brakes. I've bled the brakes and changed the master cylinder to no avail. Any thoughts or ideas to help me out?

      Thanks,

      Tony

If you still have original or aging replacement rubber hoses at the wheels, they may be expanding during heavy braking causing the results you describe.

they threw me out because i offended one of their supporting vendors by posting what he was selling was available from chevy FREE. i got even because i turned him into GM and they went after him for using their trademarks without paying. he sent me all kinds of nasty e mails so i told him if he kept it up i would notify the IRS about his business. that stopped the emails

i would buy one of those pressure gagues that screws into the wheel cylinder bleeder hole and see what pressure you have at each wheel cylinder.

WOW!!!! Too bad the CF, vendor, and you couldn't iron out the problem. CF's loss I guess.

Yeah, I think that will be the next step. Rubber hoses are old anyway and I plan on doing the T/A's this fall. Sounds like I'll just do all the brake components and be done with it.

                Thanks T.C.

                  You Mess With...

The geese that lay the golden eggs on these commercial sites, and you will gone before your eyes can finish blinking...It wouldn't matter if your name was Zora Arkus Duntov!

Oh yeah, Clemster, you INSULTED him...you put your hand on his wallet. You would have been better off if you had kidnapped one of his children.

Too Bad more don't understand this

I agree with Clem. It has nothing to do with being able to afford it, it is simply not wanting to pay to give something away that most object to. I know I haven't contributed much, but I sure to do not want to pay to offer anything.

I have seen people come and go, and many knew a lot about Corvettes and were happy to share. But few want to pay for the privilege.

What was it, just last January, I think, when Michael Hanson was kicked off, since he wasn't a member. How much knowledge did each of us gain from him?

Then look at all who went away as a result. Even more loss to those who come here often.

I wonder if they are breaking the law. Many contributed here because it was free. That information is now in the archives. However, if it becomes restricted to members only, then those who contributed will not have access to their own material. Also, those contributors no doubt did it under the understanding that it was available to all freely. Now that NCRS is actually selling it ($35 per year to get it is still selling, whether you think it cheap or expensive), they could be breaking the law and opening themselves to lawsuits by the owners of that material.

Re: i guess i will not be posting after dec 31 200

It isn't that hard to create a Members-only section that has the online Driveline. Lots of clubs have that on their club websites. Are you saying NCRS is incapable of doing what hundreds of small clubs can do?

You don't have to take away the public access to the Technical Discussion Board to do that.

And taking it away could mean a copyright infringement on the owners of the material in here and in the archives. Someone like Clem or Michael Hanson who has contributed greatly to a free forum could sue once it becomes a pay forum.

Re: Looks Like... try this one again

But, there is a price to be paid for that "free posting"...Vendor support influences an organization,s "freedom of speech". [quote]

                        Four words -

                        Mark Milner (Mar. 2006)

While CorvetteForum tries very hard to be equitible in supporting vendor/member disputes, it's clear whose side they initially take in a dispute until it's clear the vendor is crooked as a snake.

Re: You Mess With... You might get back

One of the big C5/C6 Supporting Vendors ripped off Ken Smith when repairing his rear suspension in his '65 coupe. Charged him $700 or $800 to remove a trailing arm bolt.

That went on for several days, and no one got touched for it.

They didn't do anything to the vendor since it was a job in their shop, but CF didn't ban anyone for the way they went after that company.

Re: Too Bad more don't understand this

I live in Germany. The next NCRS chapter is in the Netherlands. Driving my '65 Corvette here prevents it from being ever judged because of German traffic regulations (required: Traffic hazard lights, cat eyes, km speedo). Nevertheless I joined the NCRS to get the information I've needed. I'm able to buy books and many other stuff ..... but the TDB is the most helpful NCRS related source. Now I have all the required written stuff that someone needs and I could quit. But up to now there hasn't been the question of doing so ... due to the TDB AND most importantly due to the contributing people.
I don't care if somebody posting here is a member or not. The input from these people is the most important.
I appreciated that there hasn't been a restriction to NCRS members here. But the idea of doing so is most disappointing to me.
I'd like to use this message, too, to thank you all for your contribution and the invaluable help I can get here. I hope that this decision will be rethought.

                            Regards
                            Oliver

                                Oliver,
The wonderful additions to your car imposed by the TUEV would have no effect during judging. An exception for safety or regulatory matters is made during judging.
