Heres all I know. Let me know if these numbers all fit. I think they do:

68 327/350 Vert, M21 close ratio
Est. birth date 10/4/67

Block Stamp V0927HT 18S401273
Block cast date I147
Block cast part# 3914678

Heads Cast date H257 and I57
Head cast part# 3917291

Intake Manifold cast date I117
Intake manifold cast part# 3919803

Water pump cast date I197
Water pump cast part# 3782608

Distributor band 1111438 some Orange paint still there.

What should the Muncie numbers be?

I'm not as familiar with the C3's, but the spec guide says:

1968 194678S400001 - 428566 (28,566 made)
1= Chev, 9=Corvette, 4=V8, 67 or 37 = coupe or conv, 6th digit = last digit of year, S= St Louis Assy, then 6 digit serial #

Could your eng stamp be "7"8S401273? maybe I'm wrong, or your typo? I can't find the derivative info in the spec guide.

Dist, yes, 350hp, 327ci

Book doesn't show water pump.

4 speen Muncie Transmission should be "P" "stamped vertically on right side of case, lower rear, just ahead of transmission extension" and I think assy stamp date and the vin derivative also. Book is unclear. Anyone else?

I think the V means Flint Michigan. So to clarify are you saying the part numbers look good or also that the timing of the dates seem about right?

Your right about the 7. The vin number of the car is 194678S401273

Hi Alan,

By the book, yes all numbers look perfect, and the dates appear to be right in the range of the build. As long as that "V" is correct. That's the only thing I couldn't find in the book. Probably correct as everything else is.

The thread is a bit old so maybe others more knowledgable than me haven't seen your posts. It'd be good for a C3 expert to confirm what I read out of my spec guide. You can get one from the NCRS store online. I have the 53-72 original spec guide from 1989 which came as a quarterly magazine in place of the Restorer. I have the pocket guide but it's the 1997 version which stops at 1967.
