Re: Annual Board Meeting - Link?

    Diane,
Congratulations on your personal achievements and awards.

I trust the new President and the Board which includes all of the Directors. and those the Board invites to their meetings. I also have great respect for people who have previously held positions, such as National Judging Chairman, President, Chapter Presidents, and those members who dedicate their time and give unselfishly to this organization. This loyalty to these people has been built by many members over many years.

If the Board needs help from the membership, they will likely ask and guide this organization in the right direction given the chance to do that. If they need help, they have many long-time members with experience, and wisdom who have managed to make this work for nearly 50 years.

Your comment above accusing me of disparaging you, after asking a simple question is exactly the new hostile attitude that needs to change for this organization to heal and move on. Give Mark and the new Board a chance to conduct business for the NCRS the way they see fit in their meetings without all of this rhetoric around them. Then trust that they provide an honest, accurate, recap of those meetings in some format for the members after their meeting is held.

    Eric

I don't intend to argue any of this here. None of this discussion belongs on the TDB. However, just to clarify, bullet point 4 comes from the President's Report, She made the motion, the full Board approved it. It is the stated policy of the past President, approved by the Board.

Mr. Patty, with all due respect, I did not read Ms. Quackenbush's comment as a challenge to the people's opinions and credibility you listed. In addition, IMO trust and respect for leaders of any organization is not rewarded to a person because of a vote or a position, but earned only by deeds, actions, and words. You may trust anything this BOD and employee leadership does, I will always wait to see the results and accomplishments. So far, IMO, the jury is still out.

Certainly that would be the desired outcome here, but as I mentioned, respect and trust is earned, so I will be looking for accomplishments, changes, openness, and progress for the society as a whole to earn that. Since you don't need any of that and are convinced today, this wouldn't apply to you.

                  Michael,

Am convinced, because NCRS is moving forward; holding events, cars are getting judged and members are participating and enjoying the meets.

Yes, I am a "glass half full" NCRS member.

Enjoy the Tucson Regional and hope your car does good!

Thank you Gary, and maybe at the regional I will find that enthusiasm and optimism for the society I had a year and 4 months ago.

                        Michael,

Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort. Happiness is not a goal ... it's a by-product of a life well lived. Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.

The Board shall have the power to make, amend, and repeal the Bylaws of the National Corvette Restorers Society, Inc. by a two-thirds vote of a majority of a quorum of the Board and can do so with and without advanced notice to the membership. The Board shall review any recommendations submitted, in writing, by the membership to the Board pursuant to the NCRS Policies and Procedures Manual.
Thank you for pasting that - I completely missed the last sentence.

Unfortunately it doesn't really apply because I don't believe requesting that all board meetings (except while in executive session) be recorded and made available to the members is really addressed through a by-law amendment. The action of the Board on June 21, 2022, to restrict recordings of the meetings wasn't by amendment; I believe it was merely policy. The only things I saw in the by-laws concerning meetings were about frequency and openness of the board meetings, not how they are run and recorded (either by scribe or electronic means).

Perhaps there has never been an occurrence of the membership petitioning the board for a policy. Is the NCRS Policies and Procedures Manual available to the membership?

It may not be "One Manual", but I believe this link takes you to what policies and procedures have been made available to us...
