Re: Texas Lone Star Regional
Amen brother. There's a poster here who loves to take shots at 67 big blocks because he got burned in the past and can't let it go. I'm pretty sure that fraud in the collector car world is not limited to those cars lol. There's also lots more SWC fuelies, FI cars, airbox cars, tankers, ZO6s, L88s etc etc.- Top

Re: Texas Lone Star Regional
In Hampton, I believe there was 21 flight, 5 Bowtie, 4 PV?, and at least 1 modified car. Made up for 1 67 in Vegas last April... We like it when more 67s show up. The more, the merrier. Texas must have laid off their night shift on their 67 production line, only 3 cars.......Mike Doty

Y'all must not have read post #22 or didn't find any veracity in it. There are plenty members who feel the way I do. You can hide your head in the sand or do something about it. Of course, it may be too late for many.Leif

Leif, I read #22 and I am sorry. I judged your car 2 years. I don't remember what years that was. 2019-2022? I am hoping the changed judging deductions will help the owners going forward.Mike Doty

Re: Texas Lone Star Regional
I think the 67 SB are out their, most don't bring them to NCRS to try for flight. The ones that do are very nice ones and do well in Flight.
i had lots of fun doing the whole NCRS meets over the last two years, got to meet lots of people that i now have contact will.Dean Nelson

What Mike said -- except I didn't judge it at NCRS. I did have a small hand in encouraging Dean to bring Uncle Henry's Corvette to NCRS. I am proud that Dean calls me his "Coach." That is a really great Corvette. Both Uncle Henry and Dean have preserved it well.Terry- Top

Re: Texas Lone Star Regional
In post #22 I stated that my car was judged four times in five years between October 2014 and October 2018...not piling on you but in 2014 there were over 80 cars presented for Flight judging at the Lone Star Regional. That number has continued to dwindle over the years with, currently, only 29 being presented. How low does that number need to go before the "powers that be" start asking the owners why they're no longer participating? These numbers can only go so low before it's economically unfeasible to hold these events. Until the judging process becomes more equitable, consistent and fun for the owners, I don't think you're going to see an uptick in participation.
As we say here in Texas, it's too late to shut the gate once the horses have bolted.Leif

Re: Texas Lone Star Regional
David, a piece of masking tape will work well. We will have tape in our supply bin in the event someone doesn't have it. Another thing to remember is to have your fuel tank at 1/4 or less. That will be checked by the Fire Marshall along with a battery disconnect switch (or battery disconnected altogether).- Top

Re: Texas Lone Star Regional
Oh the things we remember.
In 2021 I drove my ZR-1 1,500 miles to Texas for a Founder's Ops check. It was dirty. After Ops on Thursday, I had a little time, so I decided to wash it before putting it in the building. I found a hose and an 'NCRS' sign on the north side of the convention center and pulled up in the shade adjacent to the red-painted curb. I did not see that the intended wash area were the 3 spaces on the other side of the alley. 20 minutes later, I had finished up, my door was open, and I was actually getting in the car to leave when the Fire Marshall in his big red shiny Suburban pulled up and rolled his RH window down. "You want to move that out of the Fire Zone?" No "please", just this authoritative, I'm the boss, f-you attitude. I replied, "I'm finished, and leaving. You didn't have to say anything." 30 minutes or so later, after the car was in its spot in the building the same guy asked to see my battery cut-off and wasn't very friendly about it. I was cordial, but he was a dic.

Re: Texas Lone Star Regional
The Fire Marshall can be tough at the Frisco Convention center. We were told to move all display cars out of the hallway a few years ago, no flexibility at all. Gary Chesnut had approval from the head honcho Fire Marshall that the cars could be there and there they stayed. They were on a mission to find something wrong after that.- Top

Re: Texas Lone Star Regional
In my opinion, NCRS should reduce the membership fee, hire professional judges while transitioning Flight to self judging.
