Late 69 Differential Code Stampings

Most of the differential stampings I have seen start with a 1 or 2 (which I think was the shift) and end with a W (for Warren the factory that built it). My stamping has neither of these.
It just has the axle code and date of AZ 10 22 69, and a casting date of I 10 69. Trim tag date is P20.
Has anyone seen this?
I was told that some late '69 were not built at Warren and that might explain the lack of the last factory stamp letter?
Another said that there was a transition to the 70 three letter code and the stampings procedure changed?
Anyone else with a Nov '69 car that could let me know what theirs says?
Any experience in these stampings would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Late 69 Differential Code Stampings

Jamie, I just picked up a 69 differential as I needed the posi. unit. The stamp is 2 AO 4 24 69 W That translates to a 3.70 rear. Hope that helps.

Harry,
That's exactly my point. Your April 69 Diff has the 2 and the W, mine doesn't. But is was made 6 months later. Just wondering if mine is correct or not without those two characters.
Thanks for the input.

If it was 6 months later I believe the differential is for the 1970 model year. Was that stamp pattern different?

'70 codes were 3 letters. Mine is still a '69 code or AZ. I would just like to know if the absence of the 1 and the W is a normal thing or not???
Could the rear have been made somewhere else than Warren?
What other locations built Diffs?

The other plant codes are G B and K

I just have to ask, is there a C infront of the AZ

Harry,
No C.
Just AZ 10 22 69. Which is October 22 1969.
Which coincidentally most of the parts on my car are that date for some reason; Block, Heads, Distributor, Exhaust manifolds, ALL J22.
Strange.

Jamie, my old '69 now long gone to a new owner had a Q 15 body build date. The diff code was 1C AN 12 3 69 W. The W stamping was very faint. I have the casting code written down somewhere, but I can't find that piece of paper right now. Hope this helps you.

Tom,
Do you know the casting date of your diff case?

Tom's looks like CFA to me.

Re: Late 69 Differential Code Stampings

Yes Harry that's a '70 code which was used on late '69 according to the Guide and other info.
My Diff is about a month later, but doesn't carry the "C" or the "W". Just trying to understand why.
I figure someone else must have come across this too. My best guess is that it was made a a different plant than W, Warren???

I have a I 19 9 cast dated Diff with 2CAM121769W stamped in it. It has the original gears, dated 6/69. This came out of a late 69 many years ago. I've had it on my shelf for 25 years.

Gary, interesting that you case was cast just 9 days after mine, but was assembled almost 2 months after mine. It would be interesting to see when Tom's was cast vs. his assembly date.
