Thanks for the information.. Can you tell me what issue restorer the article is written. I purchased these color coded fuses for my 63 years ago from LI only to discover they were not used in 63.
DITTO. Whew Tim. Guess we both weren't up to snuff years ago. One thing good though is I keep them in the tool box for spares just in case something goes out in the LWC. JD

Didn't Littlefuse stripe them on the outside?

Also, worth noting for my experience is that while the color stripes are were "correct" on the sets I have seen the stripe is on the outside of the glass tube while the original Buss color-coded glass tube fuses had the stripe on the inside of the glass tube. Brian - All the examples of Littelfuse glass tube fuses that I've seen that were color coded had a "dot" or dab of the coding paint on the outside of the glass which is one of the accepted methods of color-coding. I have not seen any examples of Littelfuse fuses with a colored stripe around the glass tube, but that's not to say Littelfuse didn't use that method also; it's that I haven't seen examples of them. If you have examples, I'd be interested in seeing some. Pete

Pete, I have no examples of colored little fuses but it has come up in conversations.

Brian - Thanks. If the topic comes up again, "kick my tire." I'm always looking to learn new old things. Pete

Here is an example of a Littelfuse with the stripe and amperage painted on the outside for a 15amp fuse.

                Robert -

Littelfuse obviously had a Manufacturing guy making the decision to paint-mark the fuses on the outside rather than on the inside; that eliminated the need to stage the glass tubes for AGC fuses ahead of cap-and-element assembly by colors for the various amp ratings; they could mark them after assembly, using one common glass tube for all ratings.
