Re: 67 - Stop & Rear Hazard lights not working
Hello;
Brake light wiring routed through directional light switch.
Try plugging in a donor directional light switch.
Use a 12V test light to follow voltage.
Good Luck.

It's on the passenger side of the steering column bowl, directly opposite of the turn signal lever; has a little chrome knob threaded into it (the switch itself is inside the column, part of the turn signal switch).- Top

long island just put them back out for sale. There has beena long wait for the switch. Better get one now before they go away again. It takes about an hour to fix.Keith Burmeister- Top

Ron,
Also check the fuse panel clips where the fuse plugs in to be sure there is a good contact showing voltage on each side of the fuse. Only takes a minute with a test light, that's where my problem was.

Re: 67 - Stop & Rear Hazard lights not working
Ron,
Take a look at this thread:
https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...=signal+switch
In the first post is a schematic of the 67 signal switch. If you trace the hazard and brake line feeds to the rear tail lights, you will see that they come together at the cam on the signal switch.
If you have front hazards, and no rear hazards or brake lights, the problem is in that little cam and the contacts between the cam and the body of the switch.
You are better off just replacing the switch, then playing around with replacing the cam.
When you get the new switch, make sure you check the area between the cam and main body. I had one replacement switch that had so much grease on the contacts that it only lasted about six months before it built up enough carbon to short it out. Make sure the contacts only have a light coating of diaelectric grease.Jerry Fuccillo

Ron,
Also when you put the new signal switch on, take a look at my little trick with lever mounting screw in that archived post. Use a shorter screw with a lock washer so that there is a constant compression on the cam, and that the lever doesn't wobble fore and aft.Jerry Fuccillo

Re: 67 - Stop & Rear Hazard lights not working
Hopefully you ordered the switch. It is red now (orginal was white) you might want to put a touch of white paint on the side of the switch because it is noticable at the hazzard switch opening when you sit in the passenger seat. I agree you will need a shorter screw for the turn signal. You must loosen the steering column to allow the wires to be removed. look for the original sticker that surrounds the wires. It can be removed if you are careful (wait till you have it out of the car). The curved plastic connectors are not the same color as the originals. You can easily push the wires out and put them into the original plastic.Keith Burmeister- Top

Using the original screw would leave a wobble in the turn lever?Ron,

Re: 67 - Stop & Rear Hazard lights not working
Donald,
That's what I found. The original screw didn't seem to go deep enough into the replacement switch and left the lever with a slight wobble fore and aft. I wound up using slightly shorter (5/8") screw with a lock washer.
Could be that on the replacement switch I had, the cam pivot was just tapped shorter than the original. As you will note in the photo in the archived thread, the original screw is a self tapping or self locking screw. But the cam pivot on the replacements are pre-tapped.
A shorter screw, and one or two lock washers just works fine for me.Jerry Fuccillo

Re: 67 - Stop & Rear Hazard lights not working
Jerry, thanks for sending the link to the old post. It was a great help. I have a new switch from LIC and tested it by unplugging the installed switch wire harness and plugging in the LIC switch ... brake lights, hazard, tail and directional all worked. Now I'll install the replacement switch.Ron,

Question - should the plastic connector on the switch wire harness be black or dark brown? My old one (a replacement) is black and the new LIC replacement is dark brown. I can switch to the black one if black is the original color.
