Just my personal opinion, but I always liked it better in the dusty field ! Looks like it may be a touch cool too. Seems like Bloomington was always the hottest weekend of the year.

This car was on display - a barn find.
Someone should smudge "wash Me" into the windshield?

I really believe this is taking it a little too far.
Next thing you know they will deduct for wax on the paint?

The answer to the question should be, "Restore it to NCRS Specifications" Why would you want to do a half $%$^ job on such a nice old FI car?

The real answer is that "You won't know what to do until you wash it and drain the fuel tank.".

As I visited the display on Saturday and saw this car, happened to see one of the co hosts from "What's My Car Worth?" and asked what he thought?
He commented that of all the cars in the room that this was the one that had the most people looking at it, and spent the most time around verse the other display cars. So asking again as to what would he do, he said that it's a tough call as for what it is,a 57 Fuelie, the most desired and probably the one car that most Barn Find Hunters dream of finding (we all heard those stories even as kids).
He said that it is a shame to let it stay in that condition, but that to redo to any state of restoration to even drive it, that the owner could easily be upside down in the process.
Definately a labor of love for this case.

Until the car is cleaned up you don't know the answer. As far as I know there is no points bonus for original dirt. If the paint and most of the rest of it is original and in presentable condition it would be a shame to restore it. A car is only original once.

If it's rough then do a frame off.

Tom, you are correct. Corvettes or cars are only original once and that was the day it was driven off the showroom floor. When a filthy Corvette like this one gets more press than the entire show it speaks volumes about the venue!

You can totally clean it up and get it running while leaving everything looking original and aged. But to hell with caked on dirt so long as patina isn't ruined removing it (IE, use the right cleaners etc.). Leaving it filthy and not running/driving is just retarded, take the pictures and video and get over it!

Of course if it's not original, then restore it to as new NCRS standards. IMHO, since it was stored so recently, only 1978, chances are allot of stuff is not original, including the paint. Heck, my '56 was painted in 1960 the original paint had lasted so poorly and it was put to sleep in 1969. Can't be a BG "survivor" without original paint.
Actually it CAN be a BG Survivor with a repaint. A BG Survivor has to be more than 50% original in three of the fouir areas.

Hey did anyone notice the three musketeers, McMammon, Goduti, and Carbone in the C3 picture?? What an extinguished looking group--oops I meant distinguished.

I thought I saw Goduti behind a bush, but on second inspection see him with Sal and Terry.

The only thing that could possibly make that rag-tag group look any goofier would be the addition of the 'old' interior judge.

And the fourth musketeer is Ray Wolson (between Sal and me, back to camera in white hat). He took your place Bob. That car (red LT1) belongs to Jack Barnett from Albuquerque.

Yes purposely took a picture of that elderly group! Terry judged my 1968
L68 Coupe way back in 1994 at Lake Lawn Lodge with the Illinois Chapter.
Where did all those years go??
