i would wash it and take lots of pics of it then i would take it apart and restore it like new. if it was all original i would bring it to a ncrs meet and let everyone have a look at it.

While I truly love unrestored cars, I would never keep a car in that condition. I would think a gentle cleaning and get it in running condition would be in order. I am pretty sure that new cars were not this filthy when delivered.

I like it just exactly the way it is, dirt and all. I might eventually wash it but I'm not sure about that.

              A very interesting display!

Michael you like it that way because that's what your 66 BB looks like that you drive to the local shows here, dirt and all. Birch

Yeah, I know. One of these days, I'm gunna run it through the automatic car wash. Have to get running again though.

He commented that of all the cars in the room that this was the one that had the most people looking at it, and spent the most time around verse the other display cars. So asking again as to what would he do, he said that it's a tough call as for what it is,a 57 Fuelie, the most desired and probably the one car that most Barn Find Hunters dream of finding (we all heard those stories even as kids).
He said that it is a shame to let it stay in that condition, but that to redo to any state of restoration to even drive it, that the owner could easily be upside down in the process.
Definately a labor of love for this case.
The car was a 57 fuelie 283/283 vin 2427, 3 sp, with power soft top, and power windows. Parked in Rockpot, IL since 1978. Owner recently passed, and son had just sold it for 58000. Today it will get washed......and the restoration begins.

I knew it. Didn't take a scientist to realize that it can't stay like that.

I'd wash it and reassess. You can always restore it later, and there are plenty of restored cars in existence.

Then again, I highly favor original cars.

The first time I met Chip Miller he told me about his 1953 barn find. He had every intention of restoring it until he cleaned it up. It was then that he realized what he had. A great restoration on this car and it will be just like all the other great restored 57 FIs and all of the assembly line individualizations will be gone forever.
