My thoughts exactly. I still haven't seen any corvette body restored correctly. Not even close.

The 57 will look just as smooth and straight as a new Mercedes when restored, which is nothing even close to what a new 57 Corvette really looked like.

If that car is original paint, and if it's anywhere near decent, I wouldn't even consider painting or restoring it.

I agree 100% if the car has its original paint. Clean the car first and then decide what to do. Who knows, maybe that inch of dirt was hiding the fact that it was repainted.

As do many of us Patrick... Roy Ester drives around in an all original black/silver over red 57 beater that gets ALL the attention at the shows here in Wichita.

Anyone can restore...it takes a real man to leave them alone...

I would like to think they would think outside the NCRS for a moment. The high-end collector car world has really tuned in to unrestored cars in the last few years. There are some talented restorers that will now sympathetically, mechanically, restore the car so that it can be driven and enjoyed (and in this case, still shown) without wiping out the history. As soon as it gets restored to NCRS standards it will be forever banished to a trailer, and like others have said, won't be any different than any other restored '57 fuelie.

Point taken however you are taking it out of context I think, I'm sorry you took it that way. I can't edit my post anymore but consider it changed to "pathetic" so if a moderator can change it, I'd appreciate it.

Jim, why not keep it as original. I dont care about the dirt but I own two
unrestored c'2s that have achieved the highest levels in both BG and NCRS. They were cleaned, made safe to drive but left original. Both are my most favorite cars and when I drive them, the most enjoyable indeed.
                  Why must we restore everything?

                      Thanks Peter. Nice collection.

I was reading the info below the 65 396 conv that David Burroughs restored and noticed the last paragraph that mentioned some changes and missing parts. Does anyone know more about this? Just curious.

I agree, but the son told me the new owner will restore it. AFTER the BG weekend, let's hope he has had second thoughts.

I wondered the same thing. I know it's been through a few owners over the past several years but you'd think that they would know what they had.

I could have bought that car about 10years ago. It had more original parts on it then plus it had a tan soft top which looked great on the car. I was looking for the owner as I have pictures and copies of old paperwork of it that I would have given to him. Still a really neat car.

Thanks Steve. That was the ORIGINAL tan soft top, in excellent condition. What a shame.

I'm still a little attached to that car. We've put on a LOT of miles together.
