Phil's explanation is as good as any - it's not like it was done under a Federal Education grant and monthly records were kept? What are you looking for? Quarterly reports? Not going to be there. And as each of such "surveys" will represent, there were errors and typos and the source of those horrors was not taken out and shot.

I responded to an add in Vette Vues about this survey, and I did receive a copy of the list. I'm surprised at how many 63 owners do not know this survey exists.

I'm one of those who didn't know about the survey, yet I've had '63 Vettes for 40 years. I can supply info on three '63s to anyone who wants to consolidate the info into one database.

A personal update to the survey - #14128 (last car built in April 1963) was ordered by a Florida lady in Oct '62 and the dealer signed off on the deal that if she couldn't get A/C, the deal would cancel. It came with A/C in May '63, and contrary to the survey, with an AM-FM radio (in spite of being ordered with a WB.).

Thanks Mike, However I have VIN#9403 built on Feb 22, 1963. I do have several supporting documents as well as photos during the dissasembly. It would be great if anyone had original documentation from their car on AM/FM radio equiped cars.

At the time it was conducted I didn't know anything about the survey. I can add information about three '63s which are not listed if anyone is willing to update it.

From a Delco Electronics follow-up letter dated February 11, 1981, responding to my question of first shipment of AM-FMs to St Louis:

"1. No exact date for the first shipment of AM-FM, but strong indication that it occurred the last week of February.

2. No AM radios were shipped after late February."

FWIW.

Best I can tell, AM/FM radios were sitting on the floor in St. Louis prior to February 22, 1963. I believe that if you ordered a car with AM, you got AM. I also believe that if you ordered a Z06, around that time you got an AM/FM. I have a Z06 I helped identify around that time that it clearly left St. Louis with an AM/FM.
