Re: Question for Trim Tag Judges; Dates
Larry, if your friend is already a member of NCRS, just have him bring the car to an event close to him WITHOUT the shipping data paperwork.
Original owners of C2s are pretty rare. He will know EXACTLY what is new, original, NOS or otherwise on his car. At the Regional and National level, the team leader will inspect the trim and VIN tags and see that they are perfectly authentic.
Where's the risk?
It is a great learning experience about your car, even if you've had it since new. The level of detail that NCRS goes through in the judging process is second to none. So is the collective knowledge about these cars and mid-year changes.
Here's an example of why he should bring his car.
A friend of mine in our chapter had a later model C3 (1980 I think). Under 10,000 miles. He brought it to Nationals in 2011 and it 4 Star Bowtied. The judges were looking at his car with GREAT interest because of how well some of the parts were preserved. In fact, there were a few things his car had that the judges had NEVER SEEN on that model year because they would wear out and fall off the car early in its life.
Have your friend bring the car. It's a hobby. We all love hearing stories from original owners.
