Re: Negativity
I had never restored a Corvette when I started judging. I had restored Cadillacs, Ford, Reos, Chryslers, Packards, Buicks,, even a couple of brass cars. I wanted to learn the system. One of the first judges I worked with was Terry. He had the knowledge, the desire to learn and teach, made a wonderful teacher for me. Not everyone has the talent to even change their own oil, let alone restore a car. But they can take the time and effort to learn and become some of the better judges. On the reverse side I have encountered owners that had restored their own cars and obtained all the awards, get the attitude that I got mine and I will be darned if anyone else ever gets their. While I was 1968-1969 Team Leader, I encountered a couple of those and had to quietly exclude them from my future teams
Some car owners and judges become so focused on the minute details, and think every example that came down down the line were all identical, they lose sight of the forest and focus on the trees
