I'm not sure that is true. there were several buyers there looking to buy gifts for their wives, so they were looking for beautiful, restored C1's and C2's with PG's! Maybe we are outsmarting outselves??

        Tony,
I was being some what caddy when I said the 4 speed would have brought $2K more. My point was at $73K who cares.
The facts are this. I have a powerglide and a four speed. I watch both. If you monitor Proteam, Mershon, Ebay, etc., etc. Both versions are bringing the same dollars now. All other things being equal. That is a fact that you can prove by watching sales (last 12 months). It did not used to be that way. Our fan club is getting older and has great appreciation for both now.
It does not matter whom the benefactor of the purchase is. Only that there is a purchse for similar prices.
Some guys are die hard 4 speeders. I was too once. Thats good. Some guys are not. Thats good too. There are not enough cars to go around anyway. Hence,, Barret Jackson results.
        I love them all.

I agree with your statements. As a case in point, I recently agreed to buy a nice '66 Coupe. It has a 4 speed, but when I started looking for a C2 to buy, I thought ONLY 4 speed, but then some people made some really valid points about PG's. At 48, my knees aren't what they used to be when they were 20 years younger. So, I changed my way of thinking. Now, I don't know that it really makes a difference to me. There are plenty of buyers for both.

I listened to the commentators on the B-J auction this weekend when a beautiful restored midyear car came up for auction. They mentioned that it was a beautiful car but that it had a "slush box" and really downed the car because of it. Well, as they were trashing the car because of the PG, the bids went up and up and up. I think that car with the "slush box" sold for $67k plus an 8 percent buyer's premium. That put it over $72k! I guess these so-called experts have something to say about the cars in the auction, but maybe they are getting alittle out of touch with the market and the age of the buyers. Maybe in 10 years, I'll want to get rid of my manual tranny cars and start searching for only PG's. Let's see how my knees hold up.

            Thanks for your thoughts.
            Tony
