    Re: Change

Thank you for the explanation, Michael. Also, thank you for your time as President.
The question remains, is it a conflict of interest?

Gary, thank you for posting the conflict of interest .pdf.

My reference was specifically regarding the conflict of interest document for the employee and directors of the organization.

I too would like to thank you for all your dedicated service. The NCRS is far better off today than it was the day you took over as President.

The Board has spoken and we have a new president. The membership should support her going forward.

We are a group of Volunteers with a common goal. I too am interested in the conflict of interest thought.

Shannon, thank you for your kind comments, I wish you success as the new captain of the ship.

My comment was specifically directed at a document all directors and employees were required to sign in the 2010-2013 time frame that in simple terms stated that the individual would put no other organization hobbyist or otherwise ahead of NCRS.

I think personally holding both a position as a Director of Bloomington Gold a for profit organization and the President of NCRS a non profit hobbyist organization. Is an absolute direct conflict of interest. I could be wrong but eventually you will be required to put one ahead of the other and what will you do, which will you serve it cant be both.

                  Re: Change

I believe it is generally known that Mike intended to step down following his term. So why did 5 directors go into this Board meeting with the intention of removing Mike. An incumbent who stuck with the job and bore the weight during the financial trials, the Mortimer situation that previous Boards failed to resolve, and the constraints brought about by covid that threatened the survival of the organization. The 5 must have felt a need to orchestrate the change. What was the reason that motivated them? Did they have the support of the majority of their constituents? Did they seek that support? Or was this "change" planned out only among a small group in order to succeed? Preventing any opposition from rallying the troops in all fairness?

Are we constrained by the "mushroom method of management"? Does the Board not believe in transparent governance?

                  So why?

What change in policy do the 5 Directors support that differ from past leadership that will benefit the membership that necessitated this change?

As for conflict of interest, it appears to revolve around compensation. Compensation exists in many forms. Do Bloomington judges and directors benefit from any expenses being covered or other perks that can be equated to value? How does that differ from direct compensation? Has the Board been limited in it's ability to weigh the facts and make an executive decision whether there is a discernable conflict on a case by case basis?

Roy suffered on going pressure due to his association beyond NCRS and so did Bill Braun. We no longer benefit from their active involvement. If we simply consider membership retention are we better off?

Roy thank you for bringing the issue to the fore. I remember well the brouhaha raised when you were voted in. Waiting with bated breath as you are - conflict or not? Personally, after reading through what Master Chesnut provided, believe there is a conflict. But, what do I know!

Michael as everyone stated - THANK YOU for all you did!

Shannon CONGRATULATIONS for being voted in! PLEASE make sure you read the Code of Ethics, and I believe you will agree you can NOT stay with Bloomington Gold and serve as NCRS president

                      Re: Change

I've been around NCRS for a long, long time. I've seen a lot, been involved in a lot. to my knowledge a coup such as this happened one other time, it was in Williamsburg, VA circa 1990. Dan Gale was removed from the presidency at the annual board meeting by a coup, one of the reasons he was removed is he was serving as President of NCRS and on the Board of Directors for the National Corvette Museum, many felt that was a conflict of interest. Now we have the opposite a new president has been installed at a board meeting by a coup and there may be a conflict of interest. What a strange web you weave.

Incidentally, arguably the best President that ever served NCRS came out of that coup in Williamsburg, he went into the meeting with no intention of being president, the leader of the coup could not muster the votes, the President could not muster the votes and Dr. Mike McCagh was elected President of NCRS.

                        All

In my previous response to Roy Sinor's exit as Judging Chairman, I used the words "was removed" by the NCRS board. I learn, this was NOT the case as Roy voluntarily stepped down as Judging Chairman.

I apologize to Roy for my comment.

Problem is, this was my understanding of that situation. For that reason, I think it a good idea that this situation should be clearly aired.

Re Dan Adie's post, what exactly is going on?

                          Re: Change

While I disagree with how the 5 Directors went about this (in my opinion it was unprofessional, disrespectful, and completely against one of our core concepts of friends coming together for the betterment of the hobby and each other), I don't dispute that a majority of Director's can make a change. However, to do so in this manor is unacceptable, there should have been a conversation beforehand. I was in the room when this was done and I was embarrassed by how these 5 Director's behaved.

Mike has served this organization well and devotes a tremendous amount of time for the betterment of this organization. He should have been shown more respect.

I believe there is a major conflict of interest for the President of NCRS, the person who plays a major role in the financial interest/health of the organization, to be a leader in another car related organization.

Since Bloomington is a for profit organization, any decision involving Bloomington made by any person in this situation makes me uneasy.
