Re: Hard question to ask yourself

'62 Fawn Beige with Fawn Interior. Long story short - our neighbors were literally like a second set of parents when I was growing up. I was asked to join them when they went to pick up their 62 Fawn/Fawn car.

In 2004 I finally got one - 62 Fawn/Fawn. Every time I drive it or even see it in the garage I think of them.

For me it would be a 57 like my brother had in 59. Black over Red, 270 hp, 4 speed. I was seven years old at the time, and he used to scare the **** out of me when he would floor it, which is the way he drove it most of the time. He always bragged it got 6 miles to the gallon! I've had over 30 Corvettes over the years, from 56 to 78 but the 56-57 body style for me is perfection. Two 56 and two 57's out of that bunch. Currently a 56 is my baby. Thanks to Zora and my brother Tom for my addiction.

For me it's gotta be a 65 with original KH knock offs (not those repros with the big fins). C2 was the pinnacle of Corvette styling in my opinion. First year for disk brakes, and I prefer the blacked out grill over the later egg crate style. I love the stinger hood of the 67 BB, but without knock offs, it just misses the mark for me.

Re: Big Block 63 split window does it for me Roy

I had a picture of a split window over my desk that I would ogle.

Of course the lime green 44 six pack Barracuda, silver Shelby GT 350 and and blue Shelby Cobra were up there too

No wonder I almost flunked out of high school, I was always staring at the wall day dreaming!

There may not have been many around with factory knock offs, but they did exist. I would put the original 1,116 produced for 65 in the rare category, but a far cry from the ultra-rare options like L88, L89. My 65 doubtfully came with knock offs but she sports an original set now!

They were rare then! Up close and in person I saw only two, both ordered new by the same person, one a 1964 the other a 1965. Both were silver coupes, red leather, 4 speed, Fuel Injection, KO's, radio, wood wheels, 3.70's, etc.-----

I actually got to drive the '64! What response to go along with a beautiful whine then roar!

'57, but I am biased. I just think the clean, sleek body is timeless. I also like the SWC's!

I'm with you Kurt. As a kid, it was the 68s that grabbed my attention.

I have owned a 54, (body and frame only). Back in the late 60's and early 70's, these cars were always being chopped up and redone. Never was able to get all of the parts to rebuild it so I sold the carcass. I now have a 59 and just bought an 87. But the car that started this addiction was a 65 owned by my roommate while I was in the Navy in San Diego in 68. He bought the car off of a used car lot for about $2200. I remember driving it a few times. Don't know what was in it but it was a 4 speed stick and you could start up in 2nd and tool around town with it, in that one gear, like an automatic. However one time I took it out onto the San Diego Freeway, I remember punching it and was up to doing 80mph in 2nd and I still had two more gears to go! It was soooo smooth and non-straining, like a dog that justed wanted to run. Had to get me one of these!
