Re: "For sale" section thread missing
FWIW, there needs to be a whole lot more than two emails sent to the Regional Director's for the Board of Directors to take any action
At a minimum, everyone who has posted and viewed this thread would be a good start - 71 replies and over 2,000 views.
Annual Board meeting is held in March. If you really want something done, take the time to send an email or call your Regional Director. Posting on this thread will get absolutely no results.
Ask them for their support and a timeline for implementation.

Re: "For sale" section thread missing
Just looked at the stats, 11,000+ NCRS members have registered for this forum, but I believe that number includes members that have let their membership expire. That is about 75% +/- of the current membership, but..unless the stats have changed, less that 1,000 are active. Many members will not see this thread, if you know other members, encourage them to contact their director and voice their concerns. Great idea, Dick, and WILL DO here.
You mention that "it should not all be about the money". Has anyone looked into what the financial impact might be? In my message to Marilyn yesterday, I mentioned that if it was a losing proposition, how could CF be not only continuing, but growing their list of sponsors? I've bought and sold parts on CF. I've also found vendors through their sponsorship and bought from them. Just say'n.
I'm disappointed to think that only direct emails to BOD members will garner interest in this matter. Don't regional directors read the TDB? Maybe our individual emails, lobbying for this to be acted on should mention this thread? Maybe?
I think more emails, to more representatives will do nothing but help. I copied Eric M, Gary M and Vito in my email to Marilyn yesterday. They've heard form me. I encourage others of us to do the same.Don Lowe

Re: "For sale" section thread missing
I got a positive response too from Marilyn (e-mailed her a few days ago)
But along with this, we probably need to give our RDs some facts to go along with their discussion. If their major focus/concern IS "how will replace advertising revenue", they will need info in that realm... How much advertising $ could be generated from the forum? I belong to several other "forums" that are not car related, but they charge a nominal fee, per year, for private sales ads. So for $25 bucks you get unlimited non-business, classifieds posts.
Somebody also mentioned (and I believe it would be beneficial to mentioned to your RD), but I spend more time at other corvette sites and forums than I do at this NCRS one. Why? Well, the for sale is a big part of it. No kidding, I check other Corvette forums for sale site 2-5 times daily. Cause you never know when that item you need will pop up! Whether its a signed copy of Nolan's Vol2 or a Laguna Blue Convertible (anyone selling? I want one Baaaadddd!) I am constantly searching.
But I only have to see the Driveline once every 45 days to know what its about... and it doesn't drive traffic (and advertising dollars) to the site.
Along with the classifieds, OTHER forums seem more accommodating for casual use. That is, they at least have PARTS of the forum that you can treat like the Monday morning water cooler at work. But here, there really is only ONE area... and that is the "Technical Discussion"... The other areas are not really posting forums at all.. archives, "testing", forum posting help, and dealer information.
While I understand that many of you have multiple years, it really would make sense to break out the discussion forums into C1/C2/C3. Then maybe a painting forum... and even others. How about an "off topic forum"? How about a "NCRS Improvement or at least Forum Improvement" Discussion forum.
The current set up seems more like, If you don't have something technical to say or ask... shut up and sit down".
That beings said, the NCRS forum has many positives. If you do have a question about something Corvette Related, this is where you can find it. There is a huge wealth of knowledge amongst the membership here. With just a few tweaks, this site would be awesome.
I know a lot of you maybe saying, "over my dead body", but the reality is that you will grow (probably very quickly) to like these changes.... and they will come.... I just hope its in 2013 and not 2020.- Top

Re: "For sale" section thread missing
Dug a little deeper folks, for January the stats show that at the BEST less that 320 members logged in in a 24 hour period. For 2012 the highest monthly average was 322. It is going to take a lot more that this little sample of membership to change anything.Dick Whittington- Top

I wonder how many hits are on the CF a day because of the for sale/want to buy ECT forums. That's what I go there for.65 350 TI CONV 67 J56 435 CONV,67,390/AIR CONV,70 454/air CONV,

THIS, in a way, is GREAT NEWS!!!!

This is the real problem I guess... I have been to "THAT" forum about 8-10 times already to day... and have probably spent 45 minutes total there...

So, go ahead, make the change and add a FOR SALE section!... it will ONLY EFFECT 320 some odd people... and the rest can just go about business as usual!
But....

When this forum started advertising by sponsors was considered, but too many dealers and vendors wanted to use the name of NCRS as some kind of endorsement of their product or cars. Do you think that situation has changed? After attending Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale and Mecum in Kissimmee I can tell you it has not. As it is we see cars promoted with false NCRS judging papers. Do you really want it to go farther in the lust for money?Terry- Top
