About 38 years. Karen and I purchased our 1976 new with 7 miles on it from Ed Rinke Chevrolet in Detroit in September of 1976. It was one of two late production cars that were still on his lot this late in the model year. It now has 23,000 miles on it and almost all of the parts on the vehicle are original except for filters, battery, tires (replaced by Firestone during the 500 recall), and the mufflers which finally rusted through last year en route to an NCRS event. Everything else including belts and hoses are original.

My first was a '76 L-48, which I bought when I joined the Air Force in 1980. But being a HQ SAC wienie in Omaha, I realized I had to sell it or be court martialed for missing formation in the Nebraska winters.

So I bought a '70 vert in 1988, which was an amazing car. Spun a bearing (not me and not my fault), rebuilt it with some helpful performance parts (the '151 cam was wonderful), but later met my wife, had a kid, and, again, had to sell for practical reasons.

Forward to 2004, my wife worked her tail off to enter medical school and just graduated, so, you guessed it, I bought a 2004 LS-1 vert. (Sorry, John...this one is Spiral Gray Metallic, and believe me that beats yellow IMHO Trouble was, it was TOO good. Runs unbelievably, is uber low mileage still, and didn't need any tinkering. Problem is I like to tinker.

So in 2009 I found a '70 LS-5 in need of restoration. What's there is original, but had some parts harvested I wish hadn't been. (The LS-5 C60 fan is just about impossible to find, but I got lucky...still working on the washer/pump/wiper motor) Needs restoration, but I didn't want to hurt it more than help, so in 2010 I found a '80 L-48 with all the options but in sad shape. Running, but sad. Even was a CB car, sans radio (transmitter and antenna still there). Perfect to restore and learn/make mistakes/enjoy.

My son dreams of someday owning the 2004. My daugher loves the '80 so much she's been helping me restore it, and yes, I'm turning her into a gear monkey. She and I are going to a judging school session this Saturday, in fact. The '70...well, that's for me. My very first Corvette experience was "Bud" and his '67 427/435 when I was about 11. Gotta have a BB once in my life after being within 100 feet of that '67. Now if I can just restore it without damaging it.

That car has been like a bad lover to me... You sell it and then realize that you can't live without it...

Thought that it was really gone for good this last time as it had been out of my life for 11 years, but the guy called me and wanted to know if I wanted it back... Couldn't drive fast enough to VA to go pick it up...

We have owned our Red 1956 since 1978, Duntov Road Tour car. Passed the Duntov Award driven to Seven Springs, PA and then drove to six National Conventions in a row 1993 to 2000. What a blast!

I have had my 69 since when MT St helens Blew up in 1980
My 68 since 1993
My 65 Since 2005 and my 1981 for a little under a year.
Except for the 81 I hope to keep them all until I die or need them for retirement money. After that its up to the Kids

A buddy of mine got his 69 Z28 back after 35 years. Sold it in 71 and got it back 2005 or so. It had been punched in the nose and just parked in the guys garage since 76. He wasn't even looking for it..his brother found it and told him where the car was..he says it was like turning 18 all over again. Did that with my first car..traded my 71 Z28 in on a new 79 Z28. .. after that i said i will never get rid of one of the muscle cars again. Too many bad stories like this to go around . Scott

Bought my 66 a couple weeks after turning 18 ...32 years and counting ,My wife tried to get me to sell it when she was pregnet with our 1st daughter....told her the car would be here longer than she would if she made me sell it,...yes shes still here too LOL 29 years and counting

My 65' 365 Nassau Blue convertible (white int.) was built on November 13, 1964. My mother gave birth to me on November 13, 1964 at 3:45 in the afternoon (second shift at St Louis?). My car was reunited with me in February 2013......we celebrated our 50th birthday together....worth the wait.

Bought my 67 L79 25 years ago. I was a young engineer working in a GM plant and I had worked so many days and months in a row that year that I often forgot what day it was.

So i had a bag of money and was going to buy a new car but decided I would keep my beater and get what I always wanted- a 67 convertible

Bought my 67 L-79 convertible in October 1992 Still have it 22 years later paid $19,500
