Good post Ken! I bought my '57 from our friend Max Nov. 21, 1964 at noon. (Tell us about the ZR-1 you got from him!) I ordered my '77 L-82/FE7 August 6, 1976 at noon and my Dad and I spec'd out the '78 SA and ordered it Sept. 1977. All are still in the garage.

I can't recall his name right now but remember the fellow who bought the black/silver with red interior '57 FI new and I believe moved to FL years ago? Still had the car and ususally had a sign in it stating "No it is not for sale".

A Corvette is like a dog---keep 'em forever.

I can't think of the guys name either but he lived on the east side of Garrett & every time he parked the 57 he wiped the engine down. He is the reason I wanted a Corvette since then. Wish I would have kept the ZR-1. I didn't know that it was the last one built in 1972. The owner now is a NCRS member & lives south of Fort Wayne In.

I bought my 64 in May of 1973, almost 40 years ago. A lot more miles on me than on the car.

Bought my wife her 77 in 1985 (I think) for about $9k. Took it off the road to do body off restore 1997 then back on the road last summer. Its her car so I don't have to make excuses for anything; just drive when she lets me.
So about 28 years total.

0727122010.jpgBased on what I've read above, I'm a newbie in this field. We bought our '71 base engine auto coupe w/AC in August 1978 for $4500, just 4 months after we got married. I never had any intentions of owning a Corvette (called them "Plastic Pigs" at one time!) but when the wife is interested, I become interested! We've had ours for only 34 1/2 years now. It's pretty clean and mostly back to as original a state as I can get it.

A member revived this thread from a year ago. It was fun reading it again. It seems like every guy can remember every Corvette/car they ever bought. I know I do. I cant remember 1/2 of the girls I dated though. Wonder what that says about me.LOL

1974 purchased May 1992= 22 years

Bought my first, 64 327/365 vert from frat brother Aug 1969 sold in May 1970. The Marines said I wouldn't need one where I was going.
Bought next a 67 vert, 327/350 on June 20,1985 with only 52k miles. Still have the caretaker.

I'd love to get a 2015 Z06. Oh my yes!

I've owned my '71 since 1985, 29 years this September. Still a work in progress and I've loved every minute of it!
Bought the '96 in Dec 2007 - my wife & I take it on "date nights" - nothing better.

I kept my first 67 L79 coupe (bought new) a little over two years after I got it. The second one I have kept for the last 27. See, I am capable of learning!

I have also had my '68 base/auto convertible for 26 years.

40 years almost to the day, I Duntov'ed the 67 that has been in our family since before I was born.
